Fête de Saint-Louis

Sunday, August 25th we will celebrate, as we do each year, the Fête de Saint-Louis ...

To let you in on a little historical information , there were five artillery salutes held on the Fête de St-Louis in the 18th century to mark the importance of the day. All gun salutes were done from the Pièce de la Grave battery. The first was a 21 gun salute to begin the day. The second was a 21 gun salute in honour of King Louis XV. The third was a 19 gun salute in honour of the Queen.. The fourth was a 17 gun salute to the health of the entire Royal Family. The fifth and final salute of the day was a 21 gun salute during the Te Deum sung in the military chapel.
