Born in Canada, oldest son of Rene Brisson and Genevieve Tetu, he married at Louisbourg Marie-Joesph Petit of Villemarie, 1731; he reportedly received a sword wound during the siege when he was captain of militia, after his repatriation to France he became captain of a merchant ship making voyage between Dunkerque and Martinique; again in 1758; became a privateer captain and won 12 prizes before being taken by a British warship in 1761, went to St. Pierre and Miquelon; died at sea after leaving Cap-Francois, Saint Dominque.
