The Administration Of Justice At The Fortress Of Louisbourg (1713-1758) Greffiers ~ General Discussion A greffier - that is, the clerk of the court - might draft a procès-verbal of all that a judge might observe about a crime. During a trial or a sitting, he recorded all testimony of a case, and read it back to the defendant as required. At an auction, he recorded the name of the bidder, sale price and arranged for payment. |
